Edinburgh the capital with its new city on one hand, and old town on the other with its castle sitting atop an ancient volcano, looking over the city below, is one of the finest cities n Europe to explore. Its rival, Glasgow is a grand Victorian city, from its industrial past, to a vibrant new city with great museums, restaurants and pubs.
Off to the north west, you find the Gaelic speaking Highland and Island communities. The Isle of Skye is a favourite, with the Cullin Mountains, and a story of Flora Macdonald helping Bonnie Prince Charlie over to the island, after his defeat at Culloden.
