Budapest is a capital that can easily rival all others in Europe, with a classical flair of Vienna sitting along the Danube, and a cafe culture that oozes let me have some pastries with my coffee please. An elegant , stylish and lively city, made up of 2 seperate settlements on either side of the Danube… the hilly Buda on the left bank has the castle and neclassical buildings, and Pest on the right bank in the commercial centre, with mix of art-nouveau architecture and “ruin bars” along side a historis Jewish Quarter.
Smaller cities are a treat to explore, like Gyor for its stunning basilica, Pecs for museums, Eger to try the famous Bull’s Blood wine and Szentendre for its colourful baroque architecture.
In the South West Lake Balaton, is Central Europe’s largest fresh water lake, where you find locals jumping in to the near 20 degree waters.
