This hidden gem, tucked in the Eastern Pyrenees, the Principality of Andorra is a country filled with narrow valleys and mountains that is popular with skiers and trekkers. Andorra has a great history, dating all the way back to Ancient Greek times. Historians say that Charlemagne (the king of the Franks, and 1st Holy Roman Emperor) granted the Andorrans a charter as a reward for helping fend of the Moors.
With a good dumping of snow in high elevations, the Pyrenees are a great place to find a new ski destination you may never have thought about before…The Spanish Royalty and Politicians flock here, but I will say the prices are a little higher then you might think. In summer, the weather is spectacular, great for hiking and taking in all the amazing vistas.
Andorra’s capital, Andorra la Vella has 2 “Co-Princes” as joint heads of states… the President of France and the Bishop of Urgell in Catalonia… it all goes back to the 13th century! The capital if filled with low tax style shops, which may be for some and not for others.
